Max Bond, Vice-Rector and Executive Officer of the United Nations University (UNU) and António Cunha, Rector of the University of Minho (UMinho) signed a Cooperation Agreement between UNU acting through the UNU Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance, and UMinho. The signing took place during the opening ceremony of the 8th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV2014) on 27 October 2015 in Guimarães, Portugal. It was witnessed by over 200 participants and invited guests, including government officials, university authorities and members of academic, government, international and other organizations attending the conference.
The Cooperation Agreement covers joint activities including research, academic activities like teaching and student supervision, organization of events, and exchange of faculty, researchers and students. It also covers: mutual appointments of UMinho faculty as UNU-EGOV Adjunct Professors and UNU-EGOV academic staff as Visiting Professors of UMinho to carry out joint research and projects; provision of an administrative staff on secondment from UMinho; provision of UMinho accommodation to UNU-EGOV fellows on the same conditions as to UMinho students; access to UMinho’s technology, library, recreation and hospitality infrastructure to UNU-EGOV staff and fellows on the same conditions as to its own staff and students; and the provision to UNU-EGOV of permanent premises at the Postgraduate School, Campus de Couros including exclusive use of the designated office space, access to shared meeting and lecture rooms, and provision of the utilities, and security and maintenance services.
