2017•06•30 Guimarães
Two working groups of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) gathered in Guimarães, Portugal, between 29-30 June 2017. On the first day, the UNU-EGOV premises hosted two distinct meetings: one for the focal points of the EGOV-CPLP working group, and another for the Digital Agenda-CPLP working group.
The Digital Agenda initiative for the CPLP was approved in August 2016 and has the support of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The main goal is to perform an exhaustive survey of the national and regional strategies of the CPLP Member States, evaluate those strategies, and prepare recommendations to optimize the access and use of ITC in these countries. In this way, both the digital economy and electronic governance can be improved. The final goal is to formulate initiatives adapted to the specific reality of each country.
On the second day, a public session was held at Plataforma das Artes, a newly-renovated infrastructure located in the old market, and was attended by the Mayor of Guimarães, Domingos Bragança, together with representatives of UNU-EGOV, CPLP, and its Member States. The publication “15 Years of electronic Governance in the CPLP” was presented there, together with the study “Digital Agenda for the CPLP”. The session concluded with a meeting of both working groups in the afternoon. Overall, the event gathered around 45 people.
