Sara Fernandes, PhD Fellow at UNU-EGOV, attended the 2nd Conference on Electronic Government (EGOV) in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) that took place in Luanda, Angola on 28 November 2014. She also attended the co-located 3rd meeting of the CPLP’s EGOV national focal persons as part of the Portuguese delegation represented by the Agency for Administrative Modernization (AMA) on 25-27 November 2014.
During the conference, which was attended by over 500 participants from Angola and CPLP countries, she delivered a lecture entitled “Cybersecurity – Top Priority in the Government Security Agenda” which introduced concepts related to cyber-security, e.g. security properties, types of threats, classification of attacks, vulnerabilities, and layers and dimensions of cybersecurity; introduced and compared cybersecurity goals, approaches and initiatives from Australia and the US; and made a case for including cyber-security as part of the governments’ national security agenda. She also attended a discussion panel on this topic where she introduced UNU-EGOV.
