In celebration of the UNU-EGOV Opening Ceremony and to make UNU-EGOV better known to the local society, a Symphonic Concert took place on the night of 23 April 2015 in the 15th century Church of St. Francis, one of the oldest buildings in Guimarães. The concert was open to the public.
Performed by the Guimarães Orchestra conducted by Maestro Vítor Hugo Matos and comprising over 45 musicians including the special participation of Pavel Gomziakov, a renowned Russian solo violoncellist, the concert was divided into two parts: Cello and Orchestra Concerto No.1 in C major by the Austrian composer Joseph Haydn and Symphony No.1 in B-flat major Op. 38 “Spring” by the German composer Robert Schumann. The concert was attended by more than 250 people.
