9th Green Standards Week and U4SSC

    The Fourth Meeting of the U4SSC Initiative was held on 3 October 2019 in Valencia, Spain  during the 9th Green Standard Week. The main objectives of the meeting were to revise the terms of reference (ToR) of the U4SSC; present the set of deliverables developed within U4SSC in 2018 and 2019; provide a platform to present views on recent trends and explore opportunities to identify strategies on standardization, integration & interoperability to build smarter and more sustainable cities; present and approve the future activities to be carried out in the U4SSC in 2019-2020.

    During the U4SSC meeting, ITU launched the U4SSC Verification Report carried out in Pully and the latest U4SSC deliverable: City Science Application Framework and its 8 case studies. ​An initial proposal on the Smart Sustainable Cities Measurement Framework was also presented.

    UNU-EGOV is leading the Blockchain for Cities (B4C) project at U4SSC. Soumaya Ben Dhaou, research coordinator at the Operating Unit, is coordinating this deliverable presented during this meeting the progression on this report, the next steps and the planned date of submission of the deliverable.During this meeting, the U4SSC Action Plan 2019 to 2020, which was approved, has agreed to create a series of new Thematic Groups that will develop several deliverableS and activities.
