    BACKGROUND

    The International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) have agreed to cooperate on advancing knowledge creation and sharing in the area of digital transformation and information and communication technologies (ICT) for social security institutions.

    The ISSA and UNU-EGOV have overlapping priorities and goals, in terms of making strategic use of technology to transform and improve public governance structures to support social and economic development and strengthen the delivery of services to citizens. The agreement signed today formalizes cooperation that started between the two international organizations in 2017.

    OBJECTIVES

    Cooperate on advancing knowledge creation and sharing in the area of digital transformation and ICT for social security institutions.

    ACTIVITIES

    Joint development of publications in the area of digital transformation and ICT areas relevant for social security institutions, in particular: electronic governance and electronic government, electronic service, digital inclusion, identity management and electronic identities and digital services, emerging concept and technologies (e.g. Internet of Things, blockchain and distributed ledgers, artificial intelligence etc.);
    Co-organizing events and topical sessions, in particular virtual ones, as well as participating as speakers in specific events;
    Contribute to responses to ISSA members’ technical requests;
    Promotion of good practices as well as the reinforcement of both technical and non-technical capacities of social security institutions in ICT-related areas;
    Knowledge sharing (e.g. good practices, data, research, networks) for joint or individual research and state-of-affairs analysis.
